SKYES STORY

Skye came to us in sept 2004 after a notorious puppy farm in Wales was closed down she had mange, kennel cough and the worst case of lice the vet had seen in twenty years and on top of all that, she had been mated.

She had spent her short existence in a stable room and was scared of everything, she wasn'’t house trained, in fact she didn’t even know what a house was, and didn’t like other dogs.

Skye was like no other dog ive ever known before and captured my heart and spirit, due to the fact she was having puppies we spent even more time together and we developed a very strong bond, training her was easy as she was so clever and so eager to learn, but pulling on lead and other dogs Malamute bitches in particular remained a real problem.

The search for the right owners for Skye was a long one simply because I didn’t think anyone was right for her, mostly because I couldn’t bring myself to part with her, we had gone through so much, and she had captured my heart like no other dog ever has or ever will again, sadly she and my malamutes were not having any of each other, but still I struggled alon,g separating them and keeping them apart, anything was better than having to part with her .

Then around Oct 2006 nearly 2yrs and 100s of requests later I got an email from a guy called Alan he was enquiring about our rescue sibe Bambi , Bambi however had already been re homed, and for no known reason I asked him would he be interested in Skye and explained that she was a huskamute .

Alan and his Maria phoned and after a lengthy conversation I was more than confident that they were the right people for Skye, they had a sibe boy Blaze who was neutered and had had several rescue sibes over the years, they had resently lost their sibe to old age, and Blaze was feeling a little lost and sad, and so to was Maria & Alan.

I went to visit Maria & Alan with Skye and it was like the darnest thing, Skye made herself right at home, as if she had always been there. Blaze was instantly smitten and so to was Maria, Alan, and their family and they also found that they were strangely drawn to Skye, in a way they had never experienced in a dog before .

I cant THANK Maria and Alan enough for taking care of our special girl,  but there will always be a hole in my heart for her, and there will never be another dog with a spirit that can reach my soul and touch my heart, quite like Skye did.
